Inlet seeking entries for Best Holiday Pie Contest

As part of the Adirondack Christmas on Main Street celebration, Inlet will be looking for a holiday pie to be proud of.

Bake your favorite pie and bring it to the Inlet Town Hall by 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 29 to be judged by some of Inlet’s true pie lovers who will determine which pie will be called “Inlet’s Best.”

Judging begins at 4:30 p.m. and all are invited to come by for samples of the entries.

Old Forge businesses invited to enter holiday decorating contest

The Adirondack Christmas on Main Street committee is encouraging area businesses to begin decorating for the holiday season. Old Forge will be filled with two weekends of holiday spirited, family-fun activities on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, November 29, 30 and December 1 and Saturday and Sunday, December 7 and 8.

Any area business that would like to enter the Christmas Decorating Contest should call the Old Forge Visitor Information Center at (315) 369-6983.

Last year’s recipient of the Adirondack Christmas on Main Street Traveling Trophy was Old Forge Hardware, and representatives will be at Point Park on Saturday, December 7 to pass it along to this year’s winner.

The Adirondack Christmas on Main Street committee is encouraging area businesses to begin decorating for the holiday season.

Light Parade entries sought for Christmas on Main Street

The Old Forge Adirondack Christmas on Main Street Committee is seeking entries by businesses, organizations and individuals for this year’s Light Parade which will take place on Friday, November 29 at 5:30 p.m.

Participants can begin lining up at the Town of Webb UFSD bus circle at 5 p.m.

The parade will head down Main Street and end at Point Park where the Tree

Adirondack Christmas on Main Street to offer two weekends of holiday fun

An Adirondack Christmas on Main Street, an annual event that traditionally kicks-off the area’s holiday season, will include so many exciting activities that its planning committee has announced the event will take place over two weekends this year.

The event will be held Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, November 23, 24 and 25, and Saturday and Sunday, December 1 and 2.

Among the activities visitors and area residents will have the opportunity to enjoy are horse-drawn wagon rides, photo ops with Santa and Mrs. Claus and their reindeer, a visit to Candy Land, a light parade, tree lighting, train rides aboard the Adirondack Scenic Railroad’s Santa Express, and live holiday music. Christmas on Main Street: Entries sought for Nov. 23rd Light Parade

The Old Forge Adirondack Christmas on Main Street Committee is seeking entries for this year’s Light Parade which will take place on Friday, November 23 at 6:30 p.m.

Participants can begin lining up at the Town of Webb UFSD bus circle at 6 p.m.

The parade will head down Main Street and end at Point Park where the Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held.

Chip Kiefer, one of the parade coordinators, encourages the same spirit of participation that can be seen at the iconic Old Forge St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

“We don’t want people to think they can’t participate because they don’t have the time to pull together an ornate, lighted float.

Our goal is to brighten up Main St. in a procession of lights and let the spirit of the holiday shine. And much like the St. Paddy’s parade—the zanier and more imaginative the better,” Kiefer said. Continue reading

Inlet adds new activities to Christmas on Main Street schedule

Inlet has added a few new activities to its roster of events for this year’s Adirondack Christmas on Main Street celebration which is set for November 23 to 25.

On Friday, Justin and Gary VanRiper, authors of the Adirondack Kids series will be on-hand at the Adirondack Reader from noon to 2 p.m. to meet with fans and sign books. Copies of volume 12 of the series, The Pond Hockey Challenge, will be available for purchase.

Every child that stops by will receive a free poster and coloring book.

Mickey and Minnie Mouse will make a special appearance at Arrowhead Park and the Inlet Town Hall from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Weather permitting, the iconic Disney characters will join children at the playground for the Candy Cane Hunt. Continue reading
