Big Moose Ambulance Co. completes vehicle purchase

The Big Moose Ambulance Company’s multi-year project to raise funds to purchase a new ambulance was recently completed. BMAC applied $70,000 of its savings to the project and raised over $90,000 of new funds for the purchase.

The new PL Custom ambulance, a Ford F-450 4 X 4 chassis with a Gold Classic style body, was purchased from Specialty Vehicle Sales Corp. at a cost of over $150,000. It was delivered and put into service on December 16th.  Continue reading

Big Moose ambulance & fire companies add off-road 4×4 to rescue vehicle fleet

The Big Moose Ambulance Company, Inc. (BMAC) and Big Moose Fire Company Inc. (BMFC) are have announced their acquisition of a new off-road rescue vehicle.

The new vehicle is a 2013 Yamaha Rhino 700, 4 X 4, which will be equipped to trail the BMAC Rescue Sled and BMFC Pumping sled.

The Rescue Sled is equipped for Emergency Medical Service on various snowmobile trails and the Pumping Sled provides for winter access to water through ice augers and pumps to combat fires on remote waterfront properties.

Funding for the new vehicle was provided by BMAC, BMFD, and a significant donation by Dave Peterson and an in-kind contribution by Big Moose Yamaha. Continue reading
