Local singers and musicians banding together for August 7th performance

Last summer, a group of community singers, musicians and directors offered a summer concert to raise funds for the successful Go Digital/Go Dark campaign for the Strand Theatre.

This summer, the 2014 Summer Benefit Choruses will support fund raising for an expanded sound system at Niccolls Church by performing “Singing the Whole Year Through” in concert on Thursday, August 7 at 7 p.m. Continue reading

Benefit Spaghetti Dinner set at Randy’s Restaurant

A Spaghetti Dinner will be held at Randy’s Restaurant at 2918 Route 28 in Old Forge on Monday, June 9 as a benefit for local resident Lucy Walker who is currently undergoing cancer treatment.

The event will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. The cost is $8 and includes salad and bread, with an additional fee of $2 for a meatball or sausage. Take-outs are welcome and delivery service within Old Forge is available.

There will also be a 50/50 raffle. All proceeds from the dinner will assist with Lucy’s travel and medical expenses.

Confirmation class to host breakfast at St. Bartholomew’s Church, June 8

The St. Bartholomew’s Catholic Church Confirmation class, under the direction of teachers Barb Winslow and Patty Foley, will host a breakfast at the church following the 10 a.m. mass on Sunday, June 8th.

The breakfast, a community service project of the class, will be held downstairs in the fellowship hall of the church.

The students will set up, decorate, serve, visit with diners and clean up following the event.

The breakfast is open to the public and free of charge. Donations will be accepted and directed to a charity of the students’ choice.

Dinner to benefit local youth groups, March 12

A fundraising dinner to benefit AYSO, the Kommunity Youth Activity Center (KYAC), and the Old Forge Little League program will be held at the Front Door Diner on Wednes-day, March 12 from 5 to 8 p.m. 

The menu will include $12 and $15 meal selections, eat-in or take-out, with 50 percent of sales divided equally between these three youth-oriented organizations.

Please show your support of youth programming in our community by attending the dinner.

Eagle Bay Fire Department to sponsor benefit for Sid Payne III on Feb. 15th

The Eagle Bay Fire Department is sponsoring a benefit spaghetti dinner for member Sid Payne III, who was seriously injured in a snowmobile accident on the Big Moose Road on January 4th.

The fundraising event will be held Saturday, February 15 from 4:30 to 8 p.m. at the department’s fire hall on Route 28.

The cost of the dinner is $10 per person and includes spaghetti, meatballs, sausage and salad.

Take-outs will be available.

There will also be a Chinese raffle, a 50/50 Raffle and a raffle for a Basket of Cheer.

Proceeds will assist with Payne’s medical expenses, including those relating to surgeries, hospitalization, and physical therapy.
