Webb Police Department reports recent law enforcement activity

The Town of Webb Police Department has reported the following recent law enforcement activity.

• A 26-year-old Burlington Flats, NY man was arrested on a bench warrant to appear on DWI charges, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 3rd, and Refusal of a Breath Test on Tuesday, November 10 at 7:44 p.m.

According to the report, the man was taken into custody after failing to appear before the Town of Webb Court on pending charges. He was located at a residence in Burlington Flats, NY and taken into custody with the assistance of the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office. He was then arraigned by Town of Webb Police before Honorable John Graham and remanded to the Herkimer County Jail in lieu of bail.

Town of Webb Board of Ed. meets; administrators provide updates

The Town of Webb UFSD Board of Education held a meeting on Tuesday, November 17, where it reviewed information and took actions that have been summarized as follows by the district. (This summary does not represent approved minutes.)

Approved the Minutes of the November 3, 2015 meeting.

Approved the Warrants and Claims.

Approved the Tax Collector Report for 2015.

Webb students welcome local veterans at school forum

veteransIn recognition of Veterans Day, Town of Webb School students in grades 4th, 5th, and 7th invited local veterans to discuss their military experiences in an open forum on  Tuesday, November 10th.

In attendance were Sgt. Kermizian (Army), Sgt. Roger Best (Air Force), Lt. Michael Mitchell (Army), and Cpl. John Weedmark (Marines).

Veterans began the forum by discussing their experiences in the military and what being a veteran meant to them.  Continue reading

Webb students tops in BOCES math challenge

5th grade mathTown of Webb UFSD fifth grade students recently competed against 43 math classes in the Jefferson-Lewis-Hamilton-Onieda BOCES in an online math challenge.

Over six days students answered over one thousand math questions at their math level and the class with the best accuracy and total points won.

The students banded together as a team and pulled out the victory bringing home the BOCES SumDog Math Challenge award.

All students placed within the top 60 students with 403 students competing BOCES-wide.

Four Town of Webb students placed in the top 10 in the competition: R. Laporte (5th), C. Basile (6th), R. Kelley (7th), and D. Aliasso (9th).

Students will be competing in local and national contests throughout the year.
