I would like to thank everyone who supported me in the competition to become Miss Teen Rodeo NY by buying raffle tickets, sponsoring me, coming to Glens Falls to watch me compete, or words of encouragement…it meant a lot to me.

Although I didn’t win the title, I did win Miss Congeniality, the People’s Choice Award, and the Spirit Award for selling over 400 raffle tickets.

Webb students perform at Bi-County Music Fest

Nine Town of Webb School instrumental and vocal students performed in the Fall Bi-County Music Festival at Lafargeville Central School on Saturday, November 7th.

Instrumental students Natalie Brownsell, Julie Brosemer, Emily Rudolph, and Jens Bartel played in the Junior High Band, and Olivia Phaneuf played first tenor in the High School Jazz Ensemble. They are all students of Emily Herrmann.

Karleigh Hollister, Natalie Herron, Jameson Pratt, and Clifford Donovan, students of Valerie Gaudin, sang in the Elementary Chorus.

Students attended an all-day music rehearsal earlier in the week in preparation for Saturday’s public performance. The top music students from Jefferson and Lewis Counties (with Town of Webb participating alongside) are selected for these honor groups.

Thank you Webb Board for paramedic funding

Thanks to the Town of Webb Town Board for authorizing funding for paramedic staffing at the Old Forge fire station. Thanks also to Dan Rivet for his research and pursuing this proposal forward.

As a resident of Old Forge now for 12 years and as a retired career fire chief in DeWitt, NY I know full well how critical this is to the quality of life of our citizens. The Board could not have found a better way to spend taxpayer funds than this initiative.

National Grid: Service quality to stay unaffected amid changes

National Grid reported on Thursday, November 12 that despite a downsizing of its crew from four to two at its Old Forge service center, in Thendara, service and emergency response capabilities will not be diminished.

Giving the boot to pesky footwear that curtail outdoor missions

It was a raw, wet mid-November day in 1974. Each day around the shore of Limekiln Lake was gloomier than the previous with the water a darker shade of grey and the downed leaves lost of their sun-filled luster.

Bears still out on my dam

So far it’s been a very mild fall with above normal temperatures. It did get down to twenty one morning and it was quite frosty as I was putting up the bird feeders.

The reason for this is a bear has decided that bird seed will get him through the winter.
