New playground equipment installed at McCauley Mountain

IMG_3743*****The new playground equipment at McCauley Mountain Ski Area, which was made possible by a recreation grant through Herkimer HealthNet’s Creating Healthy Places program, was installed on Tuesday, August 25.

The Town of Webb received funding in the amount of $6,483 for the improved equipment through the community grant writing assistance of CAP-21’s Executive Director Nick Rose. Continue reading

Services planned for James “Maurice” Christy, 89

James Christy - OldJames M. Christy, 89, died peacefully on Monday, August 24, 2015 at his home in Jamesville, NY.

He was born in 1926 in Old Forge, NY, to the late William P. and Catherine Sullivan Christy. At the age of ten, he moved to the Syracuse area where he later graduated from St. Anthony’s High School. He left for military service immediately following his final exams and was a US Navy WWII veteran.

He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from LeMoyne College in 1952, and worked with the family accounting firm of Christy and Christy. In 1964, he decided to change his career path and received his Master’s Degree in Education from Syracuse University.  Continue reading

We, The Cousins That Care of Inlet, NY, held our 3rd Annual 5k Run/Walk at The OleBarn Restaurant on Saturday, August 15.

It was a perfect Summer morning and we had a great turnout.

The top three male finishers were: Chris Shaw, 40,  of Silver Springs, MD with a time of 17.03; Jonah Simpson, 16, of Rochester, NY with a time of 17.43; and Phil Huber, 43, of Inlet, NY with a time of 21.22.  Continue reading

Herkimer County to host Walkable Communities Workshop, Luncheon

Herkimer County HealthNet will be hosting a Walkable Communities Workshop and Recognition Luncheon on Friday, September 25.

The workshop starts at 9 a.m. and the luncheon will take place at 12 p.m.

The event will be held at the Village of Ilion Municipal Auditorium, 49 Morgan Street, Ilion. The public is encouraged to attend.  Continue reading

The Inlet Public Library concluded a successful Summer Reading Program, with 34 children participating.
