Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks thanks community for car wash success

The Kiwanis Club of the Central Adiron-dacks, the Key Club and Jr. Key Club of the Town of Webb School washed 111 cars at their 15th Annual FREE Car Wash held Saturday, May 23 at the Calypso’s Cove Parking Lot in Old Forge.

The combined Kiwanis Club and Key Club effort raised over $2,000 at the event, the primary administrative fundraiser for the Club’s youth-oriented community programs. Continue reading

Memory Walk: Garden Planting Party slated for Saturday, June 20

Open Letter to the Community:

All are invited to join us at a Garden Planting Party as we help to find a cure for Alzheimer’s during our annual Memory Walk in Inlet on Saturday, June 20.

Keep this garden growing by planting a flower that represents someone in your life: a blue flower signifies those currently suffering from Alzheimer’s or dementia; yellow is in support of someone you know with the illness; purple memorializes a life lost to the disease; and orange is to support the vision of a world without Alzheimer’s. Inlet Historical Society to offer Rocky Point Inn talk

The Inlet Historical Society’s first program of the 2015 summer season will be a presentation by Charles Herr on the history of the popular Rocky Point Inn.

The program will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 18 at the Inlet Town Hall.

For almost a century of its existence, the Inn was a popular Fourth Lake hotel catering to customers of all walks of life, including Errol Flynn and Mary Pickford.  Continue reading

New York State legislators call for START-UP NY’s immediate shut down

Members of the Assembly Minority Conference held a press conference Wednesday to call for the immediate shut down of START-UP NY, a Governor Cuomo initiative designed to make New York State more business friendly and create jobs.

“Over $200 million has gone into START-UP NY and only a paltry 76 jobs have been created,” said Assemblyman Dean Murray (R,C,I-East Patchogue).   Continue reading

Inlet Senior/Community Center thanks supporters

CAP-21 has just completed a successful campaign to raise funds for new carpeting for the Inlet Senior/Community Center located at the Inlet Town Hall.

A number of organizations contributed to replacing the old and frayed carpeting which was getting to the point of being a safety hazard for some of the users of the building. Continue reading

Adirondack teachers say thank you

The Adirondack Teacher’s Association would like to thank Billy’s Restaurant of Old Forge for hosting an annual benefit dinner. The benefit raised $447 to contribute to The Adirondack Teacher’s Assoc-iation Scholarship.

The scholarships are given annually to graduating Adiron-dack Central School seniors. Thank you all that attended and supported this terrific event!
