Ad’k Council lauds Adirondack Park priorities included in Governor Cuomo’s 2015 ‘State of the State’ Address

Pro-Adirondack Park proposals were among the priorities included in Governor Andrew Cuomo’s 2015 combined State of the State address and Executive Budget summary on Wednesday, January 21.

These build on New York’s 123-year legacy of preserving this global treasure, its clean water, wilderness, wildlife and rural communities, according to Adirondack Council Executive Director William Janeway.

Janeway cited the Governor’s continued effort to restore the Environmental Protection Fund.  Continue reading →

Herkimer County Sheriff delivers Webb communications upgrades

The Town of Webb Police Department received some new communications equipment on Tuesday, January 20, to upgrade its local law enforcement operation.

Riehle, Snead to discuss local Route 28 projects with the DOT

Town supervisors Ted Riehle of Webb, and Parker Snead of Forestport, have been invited to discuss upcoming road projects in the area.

The meeting is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, February 3, at the New York State Department of Transportation (DOT) office in Utica.

Riehle said that he and Snead were invited by DOT Region 2 Director Barbara Mattice.  Continue reading →

Webb troubleshoots failed grant application, planning to resubmit

The Town of Webb has received an explanation from New York State as to why a funding request was rejected last month, according to Supervisor Ted Riehle.

The town had requested grant funds through a Consolidated Funding Application (CFA).

The grant was to pay for the process involved in planning upgrades to the town’s Wastewater Treatment Plant.  Continue reading →

Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra returning to Inlet on July 24th

The music of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra will again be heard at Inlet’s Arrowhead Park as the Fulton Chain of Lakes Performing Arts Council, Inc. (FCLPAC) has announced this year’s performance will take place on Friday, July 24.

With funds secured at the end of 2014 through a Hamilton County Decentralization grant administered by Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts, initial solicitation letters have been printed and sent out and a deposit has been placed on the huge tent under which the concert will be performed. Eagle Bay Fire Department readies Chili Cook-off, Open House; Feb. 28

The Eagle Bay Fire Department invites all local restaurants, professional and amateur cooks, and those who cook for local fire houses and organizations to enter its 2nd Annual Chili Cook-Off on Saturday, February 28.

Herkimer Co. Senior Awards seeks nominees

The Herkimer County Office for the Aging’s Advisory Council is seeking nominations for their two annual awards: Senior Citizen of the Year and Outstanding Contribution.

Nominees must be Herkimer County residents at least 60 years of age and have a history of volunteer service to other senior citizens.   Continue reading →
