Snowmobile season kicking off with 38th Annual Snodeo

The 38th Annual Snodeo will take place at the George T. Hiltebrant Recreation Center on North Street this weekend, December 12, 13 and 14.

All four major snowmobile manufacturers—Arctic Cat, Polaris, Ski Doo and Yamaha—will be displaying their 2015 machines, as well as offering a chance to win one in this year’s Snodeo raffle on Sunday.  Continue reading

McCauley opening for ski season on Dec. 12

McCauley Mountain will begin its full winter season of operation on Friday, December 12th.

McCauley Mountain is open 9 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. daily. It is closed Tuesdays, except for holiday weeks.

Big Moose Chapel Christmas Service set Dec. 21

The Big Moose Community Chapel will be holding its annual Christmas Candlelight service at 4 p.m. on Sunday, December 21.

Reverend Lawrence Bartel of Niccolls Church will officiate at the service. Maureen Van Slyke will be the organist and lead the congregation in song.

All are welcome to attend.

Kiwanis hosting free kids movie at Strand

The Kiwanis Club’s Bob Thayer Memorial Free Holiday Movie for Kids is set for Saturday, December 20 at the Strand Theatre in Old Forge.

Children ages 12 and under are admitted to the movie free of charge when accompanied by an adult who will also be admitted free.

This year’s featured film will be will be Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb. Continue reading

Webb music students to present holiday band concert, Dec. 17th

The Senior, Junior and Stage Bands at Town of Webb School, under the direction of instrumental music teacher Emily Herrmann, will be performing their holiday concert on Wednesday, December 17 at 7 p.m.

A special feature will be each section of the band performing as a small ensemble.

Selections will include various Christmas favorites, music from Disney’s Frozen, Hark Those Harold Angels Rock, and Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.

The public is invited to get into the holiday spirit with a night full of Christmas music at the school.
