The state of New York is accepting public comments until December 15th, as it considers whether to change direction regarding the future of the Remsen–Lake Placid Travel Corridor.

The Old Forge Ballet Company will present the holiday classic, The Nutcracker, at The Strand Theatre in Old Forge on Saturday, December 6 at 7 p.m.
Local students will be joined by students of the School of the Old Forge Ballet in Long Lake, Blue Mountain Lake and Boonville, and community members to complete the 40-plus member cast.
Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and teens, and $5 for children under 12. Tickets can be purchased at the door.

The snowmobile trail system in the Towns of Webb and Inlet officially open on Monday, December 8 and will be celebrated at the 38th Annual Snodeo, the traditional kick-off event of the snowmobile season on Friday through Sunday, December 12, 13 and 14.
Sponsored by the Central Adirondack Association, Snodeo will be held at the George T. Hiltebrant Recreation Center on North Street which will be filled with sleds, gear and accessories that will appeal to snowmobile enthusiasts of all ages. Continue reading
MAC’s Safe Ride’s Let It Snow 5K Run/Walk starts at the Old Forge Fire Hall at 9 a.m. on Sunday, December 7.
Participants are encouraged to dress in holiday attire as they head down Main Street and to Thendara and back.

The Town Of Webb and the Eagle Bay Fire Department Ladies Auxiliaries will kick-off the holiday season with a Tree Lighting Party on Saturday, December 6.
The event will begin at 5 p.m. at the new Eagle Bay Welcome Center located at the corner of Big Moose Rd. and Rte. 28.
Christmas caroling around the community Christmas tree will be followed by the tree lighting. Once the tree is lit, all are invited to enjoy refreshments and a pot luck supper at the Eagle Bay Fire Hall. Participants are asked to bring a dish to pass.
TRX classes for seniors are currently being offered at the Park Avenue Building gym in on Mondays and Fridays. Classes are held from 9 to 9:45 a.m.
Certified instructor Marie Birtle leads the low impact workouts tailored to improve strength and balance. Classes are open to men and women.
