Barnstormers to meet, Nov. 18

The Inlet Barnstormers Snowmobile Club will hold a meeting on Tuesday, November 18 at 7 p.m. at the Inlet Information Office.

New members, volunteers and ideas are always welcome to help continue the club’s many activities for another successful winter season.

Refreshments will be served following the meeting.

Billy’s Dinner to support North Woods Center

Billy’s Italian-American Restaurant is sponsoring a fundraising event for North Woods Community Center on Thursday, November 20, starting at the 5:30 p.m. seating. Take outs are available.

Service set for Shirley E. Peacock, 90

Shirley E. Peacock, 90, a native and life resident of Old Forge, and wife of William Y. passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2014, at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville, where she had resided since 2012.

She was born on August 24, 1924, a daughter of William and Noreen Wormwood Ball.  Shirley grew up on North Street and graduated from Town of Webb High School, Old Forge.   Continue reading

Briana Brownsell named Kiwanis Student of Month

The Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks has announced that its Student of the Month for November is Briana Brownsell. Briana is the daughter of Tim and Jill Brownsell of Inlet and is a senior at Town of Webb Union Free School.IMG_3636

Family-friendly workshops scheduled for Thanksgiving weekend at VIEW

Registration is now open for family-friendly workshops and classes at VIEW that will be held over Thanksgiving weekend.

Yoga classes will be held Friday and Saturday, November 28 and 29 at 8:30 a.m. Chair Yoga classes, led by certified Lakshmi Voelker Chair Yoga Instructor Kathy Queen, will be available on Friday, November 28 at 11 a.m.  Continue reading

Ad’k Common Ground Alliance updates its ‘Blueprint for the Blue Line’

The Adirondack Common Ground Alliance (CGA) has released the updated ‘Blueprint for the Blue Line,’ a set of legislative priorities for the Adirondack Park for 2015 and beyond.

The Blueprint is meant to help inform state elected officials about what is important to the people of the Adirondacks.

For the past seven years, CGA has brought together a diverse group to discuss problems Adirondack communities face, and to seek collaborative solutions.  Continue reading
