Thendara Club: Local golfers part of winning team at Tree Classic Tourney

The Tree Classic Golf Tournament, a contest held for the past 23 years at Thendara Golf Club when the leaves are at their peak, took place on Friday and Saturday, September 26 and 27th.

This year’s field of 20 players enjoyed beautiful weather and magnificent colors during the 36-hole competition. Continue reading

Anthony Kalil promoted to Asst. Chief

Anthony (Tony) Kalil was promoted to the rank of Assistant Chief at a City of West Palm Beach Police Department Promotional Ceremony on July 31, 2014.IMG_4687

Kalil began his career with the West Palm Beach Police Department in 1989. In 2004 he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and assigned to the patrol division along with Internal Affairs.   Continue reading

Niccolls Memorial Church to offer bereavement support program

A six-week Bereavement Support program will be offered at the Niccolls Memorial Church Social Room on Tuesdays October 7 through November 11 beginning at 6:15 p.m.

Anyone who has experienced the pain and grief of loss through death, divorce, economic hardship, forced move, or other significant life-change is invited to attend.

The program is based on the curriculum developed by Sr. Rose Troy, who offered similar programs through Catholic Charities in the Mohawk Valley. Sr. Rose, now retired, has shared her materials and support for the local program with current facilitator, Lani Ulrich.  Continue reading

Services planned for Grace W. Flock, 79

Grace W. Flock, 79, of New Hartford died September 26, 2014 at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare.

She was born April 14, 1935 in Manhattan, daughter of the late Howard and Grace Gamble Quimby, and attended the Emma Willard School. She married Gilbert C. Flock in 1962 in Big Moose, NY. He died in 1991.

Old Forge gears for ADK Christmas on Main Street

The ADK Christmas on Main Street committee has begun organizing this year’s event that will  be held the weekend of November 28, 29 and 30 and is requesting continued support by the community.
