Service planned for Paul W. Godemann, 76

Paul W. Godemann, 76, of Otter Lake, passed away Saturday April 12, 2014 in the loving arms of his wife and  family by his side.

He was born August 21, 1937 in Utica, a son of the late Paul and Mildred (Budlong) Godemann. Paul was a graduate of Utica Free Academy and MVCC where he earned an Associates Degree in business.  Continue reading

Card of thanks

This past winter was very difficult for me as I have COPD. My thanks to Kathy and Nick at Adirondack Grocery in Otter Lake. They helped me by delivering groceries when I needed them.

Thanks also to my snow shovelers James and William Johnson and John Faber.

If anyone hears me say “I’m hot” this summer, feel free to yell at me.

Postal Service hosts seminar for area business owners

Cathy Glasheen, Customer Relations Coordinator for the U.S. Postal Service will present a Grow Your Business seminar at View, the arts center in Old Forge, on Wednesday, May 7 at 2 p.m.

During the program, Glasheen will present the many services provided by the U.S. Postal Service that will help your business grow in advertising and shipping while saving you money.

Old Forge Postmaster Rich Ventura and Raquette Lake Postmaster Mary Lamphear will also be on hand to answer questions and help business owners obtain a Customer Retail ID to start their savings. Attendees are asked to bring along their business cards for a special drawing.

Card of thanks

I’ve always known our little communities to be very helpful to those in need. But after my accident last month I  found out firsthand just how helpful so many can be.

I need to thank Danny, Leo, Annie and AJ from the Old Forge Ambulance and Police departments for getting me out of the car and to the hospital. I heard I made the task kind of difficult. Sorry about that. Thankfully we have some very well-trained people here in our little town.  Continue reading
