Tecwyn Williams selected as April Student of Month

The Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks has announced that its Student of the Month for April is Tecwyn Williams. Tecwyn is the son of James and Lisa Williams of Old Forge and is a senior at Town of Webb Union Free School.1517636_711830168840867_167976110_n

The Student of the Month is a program initiated by the Kiwanis Club, in cooperation with the Town of Webb School, that recognizes senior students.

Each month from September to April the school administrators select a Student of the Month who will receive $50 and with his/her parents are invited to a Kiwanis Recognition Event to make a brief presentation. Continue reading

AAA Defensive Driving Courses slated in Utica

AAA New York will be conducting two Driver Improvement courses at Mohawk Valley Community College.

The classes will be held on Tuesday and Thursday, April 8 and 10, from 6 to 9 p.m. Students must attend both evenings to receive a certificate.

The second class will be held on Saturday, April 26 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The fee is $39 for AAA members, $32 for AAA senior members (60+) and $55 for non-members.

Class size is limited. Reservation and prepayment is required. For more information call at (315) 797-6121.

Thanks for great student production

Matthew Thomas Productions and all the participating local business sponsors would like to congratulate all the Town of Webb students cast and crew of 40-plus who participated in the 2014 performance of “Annie Get Your Gun.”

You’ve all worked very hard and long hours to put on a great show and each of you will receive a free ticket to the June 5 Spring Concert which will be held at the Strand Theater.

Eagle Bay F.D. announces its 2014 Chili Cook-Off winners

The Eagle Bay Fire Department held its inaugural Chili Cook-Off at the firehall on Saturday, February 22nd. Winners were named in the Pro, Amateur, Fire Department, and People’s Choice divisions.

The winner of the professional division was Bryan Bennett of Mountainside Smokehouse & Grill; Kathy Beauchamp was the winner in the amateur category; Bill Faro took honors in the fire department category; and the winner of the people’s choice award was Chef Buford of the Otter Lake Fire Department.

Members of the Eagle Bay Fire Department thank the judges for their help, and also thank those who came and supported the event. They look forward to hosting the cook-off again next year.
