Forestport schedules holiday events for community and visitors, Dec. 8th

The Town of Forestport will celebrate the Christmas holiday by hosting its 2nd Annual Electric Horse Parade on Sunday, December 8.

The event will begin with a kids visit with Santa from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at the Forestport Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall on Woodhull Street.

Visitors are invited to enjoy hot cider as they view an art display at Connie Smith’s Art Gallery on Woodhull Street throughout the afternoon.

The Forestport Diner will stay open and Scooter’s Bar and Grill will provide kid-friendly eggnog. Continue reading

Ad’k Landowners Assoc. sets winter meeting

The Adirondack Land-owners Association (ALA) will host its annual Winter Membership Meeting on Friday and Saturday, December 6 and 7 at the Adirondack League Club in Old Forge.

This year’s meeting will feature a presentation of the ALA Stewardship Award to the Common Ground Alliance. The ALA is recognizing the Common Ground Alliance for their outstanding contribution to the betterment of the Adirondack Park. Continue reading

North Woods Center, Old Forge Shopping event slated Nov. 30th

North Woods Community Center will be the site of a shopping event on Saturday, November 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Members of Dewey Old Forge Chapter #449 will sell gifts priced at $10 and under, and the North Woods Lodge #849 F & AM will be selling Rada knives.

A Cookie Walk will be sponsored by the Niccolls Church Women’s Fellowship. The event will be held at the center at 110 Crosby Blvd. in Old Forge, across from St. Bartholomew’s Church.

Holiday Piano Recital set Dec. 5th

Piano students of Valerie Gaudin will present their annual Holiday Piano Recital on Thursday, December 5 at 7 p.m. at Niccolls Memorial Church in Old Forge.

Music will be performed by Fern Bailey, Chloe Barkauskas, Allyson Brosemer, Chloe Brose-mer, Megan DeFilipps, Clifford Donovan, Alexis Hollister, Holly Kalil, Morgan Payne, Olivia Phaneuf and Jack Rivet. Refresh-ments will be served immediately following the performance. The recital is open to the public.

Garden Club readies annual Christmas party

The Old Forge Garden Club will hold its annual Christmas Party on Tuesday, December 3 at 10 a.m. at Lakeside Terrace in Old Forge.

Storyteller Mitch Lee will present a program during the party. Refreshments and good cheer will be provided by Garden Club members. All are welcome to join in the festivities.

Christmas on Main Street: Inlet to raffle holiday baskets December 1st

Inlet will again be holding a Holiday Basket Raffle during its Adirondack Christmas on Main Street event on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, November 29, 30 and December 1.

Stop by the Inlet Information Office when you get to town for a list of shops that will be open. At the end of day bring your receipts from purchases made at those businesses and receive a raffle ticket for every $10 spent to qualify to win a Holiday Basket.  Continue reading
