Physical fitness instructor Joanne Maly has seen the popularity of her Total Resistance Exercises/Training (TRX) classes grow so much in Old Forge over that past year-and-a-half, that new teachers have been trained to allow for expanded class offerings.

TRX was developed by a Navy Seal, Randy Hetrick, who served overseas for years and needed to develop a means of keeping his troops in shape without weights and machines.  Continue reading

Inlet Historical Society Members and friends of the Inlet Historical Society gathered in the main collection and display room of their building in downtown Inlet on Saturday, May 25 to unveil the new sign donated by Board Member Waddie Kalil.

During the unveiling, Kalil delivered a speech on the importance of collecting and sharing Inlet’s history.  Continue reading

The Junior and Senior Choruses at the Town of Webb School presented their annual Spring Choral Concerts in the school gymnasium on May 29 at 7 p.m. 

The program featured a selection of songs currently topping the charts as well as classic favorites from decades past. Under the direction of Valerie Gaudin, the choruses were accompanied by TOW School alumni Phil Leone on drums and Jim Tracy on guitar.  Continue reading

GARGAS_IMG_9893The Elders and Session of Church of the Lakes of Inlet welcomes new pastor Joe Gargas as their spiritual guide for 2013. Pastor Gargas will open the summer season with a 10 a.m. service on Sunday, June 2nd.

Pastor Gargas, a Whitesboro native, is an operations manager at a Utica printing company and an elder at Forestport Presbyterian Church.  Continue reading

An Adirondack Scenic Railway train made its first trip to Big Moose Station in 30 years on Saturday, May 25. The train pulled out of Thendara Station carrying 191 passengers, board members and volunteer staff, many of who traveled to Thendara from Utica’s Union Station.  Continue reading

Diane Austin Desnoyers, 59, of Old Forge passed away unexpectedly on May 22, 2013 at her home.

She was born July 5, 1953, in Buffalo, NY, a daughter of Dr. Bert P. and Marie (Soule) Austin. Diane attended Utica Catholic Academy and earned her Associate’s degree in nursing at Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica.  Continue reading
