A Hunkins Excavating crew began work on razing one of the buildings at the Foley Lumber Company complex along the Moose River in Thendara—the site of the former mill operated by George Deis and Son—on Tuesday morning, May 28. The building was constructed in 1926. Continue reading

The congregation of the Inlet Church of the Lakes and friends of Robin Dwyer gathered at the Senior Room of the Inlet Town Hall on Wednesday, May 22 for a farewell potluck dinner for the retiring pastor intern.

Dwyer, who has been pastor intern of the summer seasonal church for the past seven years, has recently relocated to Williamsburg, VA. Continue reading

Main Street, Old Forge First Friday Art Walks start season June 7

The First Friday Art Walks in Old Forge will kick-off its fourth season on June 7 from 5 to 8 p.m.

The seasonal event will follow the theme, Artistic Adventure in the Adirondacks, and will feature 13 venues for art lovers to shop, eat, listen to music, meet artists and view demonstrations. Continue reading

Tuesday Ladies 18-hole Golf League starting June 11th

The Ladies’ Tuesday 18-Hole Golf League at the Inlet Golf Club will begin on Tuesday, June 11 at 8:30 a.m.

Participants are asked to arrive at the golf course by 8 a.m. at which time the pairings will be given out.

Ladies should sign the sign-up sheet the week prior to the week they wish to play.  Continue reading

Peter Pelletier service set Sat., June 8

A memorial service for Peter Pelletier will take place on Saturday, June 8 at 11 a.m. at St. Bartholomew’s Catholic Church in Old Forge. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery.

Pete passed away on January 16, 2013 following a four-year fight against cancer.   Continue reading

Northern Forest Canoe Trail reps dedicate new Raquette Lake kiosk

A large group of dedicated paddlers gathered near the town dock in Raquette Lake on Saturday, May 25 for a ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony for the Northern Forest Canoe Trail’s newest kiosk.

Raquette Lake is one of the many canoe launches along the NFCT, which at 740 miles is the largest canoe trail in the U.S. Continue reading
