_MG_2955Covey-Pashley American Legion Post #893 of Old Forge will host its 50th Annual Golf Tournament at Thendara Golf Club on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, June 8, 9, and 10th.

The tournament is open to all members of the American Legion, its auxiliary, and the Sons of the American Legion and their guests.

Some major hole-in-one prizes have been donated in commemoration of the 50-year event.

The lucky golfer who scores a hole-in-one on the ninth hole will win a 2013 Corvette, courtesy of Davidson Chevrolet of Rome.

Whoever scores an ace on the 12th hole will win a 2013 pontoon boat courtesy of Bird’s Marine of Old Forge.

The legion’s first tournament was held June 3, 4, and 5, 1963, and was chaired by the committee of Bob Gaudin, Kenneth Hoffman, Charlie Kiefer, Sam Herman, George Easton, and Arch MacDonald, who the tournament has since been named after.

Charlie Kiefer is the sole surviving member of the founding group.
