CAP-21 seeking artists for Old Forge Farmers’ Market

CAP-21, sponsor of the Old Forge Farmers’ Market, is seeking local and regional artists as well as individuals who practice traditional Adirondack crafts, to participate as vendors at the weekly market beginning Friday, June 28.

The intent is to support individuals and businesses with connections to the Adirondacks while promoting its artistic and cultural heritage.

Artists from the CAP-21 communities of Forestport, Webb, Inlet, Long Lake and Indian Lake, in particular, are encouraged to apply.

The market is a great opportunity for artisans to get their craft in the public eye, according to Nick Rose, executive director of CAP-21.

The market also welcomes individuals who want to demonstrate their craft, such as woodworking, furniture making, weaving, pottery, etc.

The Farmers’ Market is located behind the Old Forge Hardware and is available on Fridays from June 28 through October 4.

By popular demand the market will start earlier this year and run from 1 to 5 p.m.

Reed and Barb Proper will be returning as Market Managers and will be on-site to greet vendors and customers.

According to Nick Rose, in 2012, the Old Forge Farmers’ Market averaged 377 daily customers—a 36% increase over 2011—making it the most well-attended market in Herkimer County.

For more information on the Market Artisans program, or to apply,  contact Rose at CAP-21 at (315) 369-3353 or at nrose@cap-21.org. Market space is limited.
