Calypso’s Cove adds Zip-Line to 2013 summer attractions

Visitors to Calypso’s Cove in Old Forge will be flying high this summer with the addition of a zip-line to its long list of family-friendly attractions.

Guests will experience the ultimate rush as they drop from a 40-foot tower and propel across a 300 foot side-by-side zip-line.

Thrill-seekers will reach speeds of up to 21 mph as they zoom between Calypso’s Cove mini golf course and batting cages.

The zip-line was manufactured in the United States by Extreme Engineering.

It is complete with the latest safety features and was awarded the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions’ (IAAPA) “Best Technology Award,” according to Katie Wojdyla, vice-president and director of marketing of Enchanted Forest/Water Safari.

“The zip-line is able to accommodate up to 90 guests per hour, allowing for minimal wait time,” Wojdyla added.

Calypso’s Cove is currently holding a contest through its Facebook page for an opportunity to be the first to ride the zip-line on Saturday, May 25.

Fans of the page can enter through Thursday, May 16.

In addition to being the first to ride on the attraction, the lucky winner and a friend will also receive a stay in a cabin at Old Forge Camping Resort on Friday, May 24 and a Family Fun Deal Package at Calypso’s Cove.

This includes four attractions tickets, 40 game tokens, four personal pan pizzas and a two-liter soda.

Another new feature that will be available in June at Calypso’s Cove will be the addition of a full BBQ menu that will include BBQ favorites such as pulled pork, chicken, and rack ribs along with traditional side dishes.

Pizza Hut Express will continue to be available on-site.

Calypso’s Cove Family Fun Center is located next to Enchanted Forest/Water Safari on Route 28 in Old Forge.

The center includes go karts, a bumper boat pool, an Adirondack rock climbing wall, an 18-hole miniature golf course, batting cages and an arcade.

Calypso’s Cove will be open for Memorial Day weekend, May 25 and 26, and will open its doors daily from June 22 through September 2.

Admission to Calypso’s Cove is free and each ride requires one paid ticket.
