Members of the Polar Bear Ski Club Nordic Ski Team competed in Junior National Qualifier and Bill Koch Youth Ski races at McCauley Mountain on Saturday and Sunday, January 26 and 27.
In Saturday’s race, hosted by the Holland Patent Wolverine Ski Club, the girls skied a 7.5km classic race and the boys skied a 10km classic race. The results of the Junior National Qualifier were:
J1 Girls: Maddie Phaneuf – 2nd, 26:55. J2 Girls: Megan Greene – 2nd, 30:11; Olivia Phaneuf – DNF. OJ Boys: Colin Criss – 1st, 33:50. J2 Boys: Henry Uzdavinis – 6th, 39:47.
The Bill Koch Youth Race was a 2.5km classic race for all skiers. The results were:
J3 Boys: Tyler Rudolph – 1st, 10:52. J3 Girls: Rachel Smith – 1st, 15:00. J4 Girls: Emily Rudolph – 1st, 14:27; Julie Brosemer 2nd, 15:46. J4 Boys: Nolan Fenton – 1st, 11:38; Grady Boulier – 3rd, 16:21.
The Polar Bear Ski Club hosted the Sunday races. The results of the Junior Qualifier were as follows: J1 Girls (10km skate race): Maddie Phaneuf – 2nd, 36:30. J2 Girls (5 km skate race): Megan Greene – 2nd, 17:03; Emily Greene – 6th, 18:36; Olivia Phaneuf – 7th, 20:06. J1/OJ Boys (10 km skate race): Colin Criss – 6th, 30:06; Tor Ruud – 10th. J2 Boys (5km skate race): Henry Uzdavinis – 6th, 16:16.
