Superintendent’s Report included the topics:

• Provided information to Board Members regarding a link to a petition that we have been asked to sign initiated by another northern school district to the State of New York regarding School Aide.

It is from a particularly poor school district that is asking for support in getting aide reconfigured to more appropriately match the needs of schools.

• Discussed the idea of faculty and staff being allowed to bring their children to school here without paying tuition.

We have a staff member that has approached this topic with me and my understanding is the conversation has come up before but I am unsure of the history.

• School Physician services are in place with Dr. Webster through the end of the 2012-13 school year at which time we will need to come up with an alternative plan for the 2013-2014 school year.

• Discussed putting red bows and seasonal white lights on the trees out front on the trees surrounding the school sign for community beautification and celebration.

• Attended several conferences over the last couple of weeks and as you may be hearing on the news; many districts are predicting fiscal and academic insolvency within 4 years.

Everything sounds bleak at best with the impact of Hurricane Sandy on school aide yet to be determined.

TRS and ERS have both come out with large increases for the coming year which by themselves will consume our 2% cap themselves. Operational and salary increases will be on top of that. We have already been working very hard already to do some long range planning beyond the regular budgetary preparation activities.

On Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at 6:30 p.m. the next regular meeting is scheduled in the Library.
