Old Forge to host ‘Let It Snow’ 5K Run/Walk on December 2nd

Among the many activities planned for the second weekend of An Adirondack Christmas on Main Street in Old Forge will be the “Let it Snow” 5K Run/Walk on Sunday, December 2.

The run/walk will begin at 9 a.m. at Point Park in the center of town and will take participants down the decorated Main Street, through the back roads of Thendara and back.

There are already over 150 registered participants with many more expected, according to event co-organizer Beth Tickner.

Currently there are runners registered from across New York, as well as from Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Vermont.

“And we have all ages too,” Tickner said, “Our youngest registered is eight, and our oldest, at this point in time, is 65.”

All participants are encouraged to come dressed in holiday attire for a chance at winning an award for best costume.

Additionally, there will be prizes awarded to the top three male and female winners in each age category.

The categories are ages 19 and under, 20 to 39, 40 to 59, and 60-plus.

Race registration will remain open until race day and the fee is $25.Registration is available online at: www.active.com or can be downloaded from www.ADKChristmasOnMain.com.

Participants can pick up their race packets at the Town of Webb Information Center either Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m., or on Sunday from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at the Point Park.

As runners line up for the race, they can enjoy an a capella performance by 5-Second Rule, featuring Old Forge native, Nichole Sears.

Professional photographer Pat Hendrick will also be on hand to take pictures of the race that can be ordered on the spot or purchased online.

Following the race, everyone is invited back to Point Park for post-race refreshments.

All runners, with proof of bib, will also receive half-off admission to the Holiday Breakfast at the Masonic Lodge on Crosby Boulevard from 8 a.m. to noon.
