Shine a Light: Inlet vigil to honor lung cancer victims

In commemoration of Lung Cancer Awareness Month, Inlet will join communities from throughout the United States in a Tuesday, November 13 remembrance vigil of those who have died of lung cancer.

The “Shine a Light on Lung Cancer” vigil, led by Margaret O’Hara, will begin at 7 p.m. at the Inlet Town Hall. The short ceremony will include an opening prayer by Lorrie Skinner, a brief overview of advances in lung cancer treatment by Beverly Chambers Ischia, CNP, and the reading of a list of those lung cancer victims who have connections with local residents.

Glow sticks will be lit in the victims’ honor.

The ceremony will be followed by a moment of silence held in conjunction with the Inlet Town Board meeting.

Pictures and/or memory boards are welcome and will be displayed in the Senior Room throughout the gathering.

The evening will conclude with a song led by Jean Bird, refreshments and conversation.

If you have a loved one you would like to be remembered, contact Adele Burnett at the Inlet Information Office at (315) 357-5501.
