Adirondack Christmas on Main Street to offer two weekends of holiday fun

An Adirondack Christmas on Main Street, an annual event that traditionally kicks-off the area’s holiday season, will include so many exciting activities that its planning committee has announced the event will take place over two weekends this year.

The event will be held Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, November 23, 24 and 25, and Saturday and Sunday, December 1 and 2.

Among the activities visitors and area residents will have the opportunity to enjoy are horse-drawn wagon rides, photo ops with Santa and Mrs. Claus and their reindeer, a visit to Candy Land, a light parade, tree lighting, train rides aboard the Adirondack Scenic Railroad’s Santa Express, and live holiday music.

Back by popular demand will be Frank Della Penna and his Cast in Bronze Carillon, which will provide live music at the Old Forge Point Park from 2 p.m. on November 23 and 24.

New additions to the calendar of events includes a Shop Hop Basket Raffle, a visit by the Utica ZooMobile on November 23, the Let It Snow 5K Run/Walk and Holiday Brunch with Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Masonic Lodge on Sunday, December 2, holiday themed workshops at View, and holiday photo ops throughout the town.

Festivities will take place in Thendara, Old Forge and Inlet where all will have the opportunity to shop for unique items and experience the holiday season away from the traffic and bustle of the city.
