Inlet: 10th Mountain Division Band to offer Sunday program under tent

The U.S. Army 10th Mountain Division Band from Fort Drum will perform a free concert under the tent at Inlet’s Arrowhead Park on Sunday, July 31 beginning at 2 p.m.

The 20-member band will present a program that includes patriotic, jazz, rock and Dixieland music.

According to Jerry Dupuis, chairman of the Fulton Chain of Lakes Performing Arts Council, Inc. (FCLPAC), the organization responsible for arranging for the concert, the band will join in formation in the parking lot of St. Anthony’s Church at approximately 1:45 p.m. to march to the concert venue.

Following the musical program, the Inlet Youth Commission will host a BBQ picnic for the band members. Youth Commission children will have the opportunity to meet the “Fighting Musicians” during the picnic. The band will be performing under the tent which will still be standing following the Friday, July 29 Symphony Syracuse Orchestra concert.

Dupuis said the tent will be put to good use throughout the weekend for other scheduled events at Arrowhead Park.

The Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts’ free performance of Romeo and Juliet will be presented under the tent at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 30.

Dupuis said that the FCLPAC has also offered the tent’s use for the Town of Inlet’s Sunsets by the Lake Concert on Saturday, July 30 at 7 p.m. featuring the Shrinking Violets. The concert is free and open to the public.
