Town of Webb Police Chief reports department’s recent activity

Town of Webb Police Chief John Russell reported on his department’s recent law enforcement activities as follows.At approximately 1:45 p.m. on Sunday, February 18, a 36- year-old Williamsport, PA man was arrested and charged by Town of Webb Police with failure to comply, failure to have a trail permit and reckless operation.

According to Chief Russell, the Town of Webb Police and the NYS DEC were conducting an impromptu trail check on the pipeline when the man was asked to stop by a law enforcement officer.

He failed to comply and a brief pursuit followed which resulted in him being apprehended on Trail 1.

He was arrested and taken before the honorable Judge Jack Graham for immediate arraignment where he pled guilty and paid the fines requested by the court.

According to Russell, the TOW Police Department also investigated numerous property damage motor vehicle accidents on Saturday and Sunday including one in the McCauley Mountain parking lot.

On Sunday, February 19, Webb police investigated a two-car property damage accident where an Andover, MA man was later charged with leaving the scene of a property damage auto accident.

According to Russell, the man’s vehicle was blocked into a space in the parking lot and upon learning this, proceeded to use his vehicle to push the other vehicles out of the way. He was later apprehended at the Adirondack Lodge and was issued the appropriate traffic ticket for leaving the scene of a property damage accident.

There was also a snowmobile accident on First Lake on Sunday, February 19. According to the report, a 27-year-old Greenwich, CT man who was operating a 2000 Polaris on the lake caused injuries to his hand when he jumped from the sled when he felt he was going to flip. He was given minor medical attention by the police department and was transported to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in his own vehicle.

On Sunday evening, February 19, Officer Anthony Sege arrested a 28-year-old man and a 30- year-old for possession of marijuana following a traffic stop in Eagle Bay.

Town of Webb Police are also investigating a larceny from a vehicle that was parked at Christy’s Motel on Route 28 in Old Forge.

In the incident, which occurred on Sunday, February 19 between 9 and 11 a.m., an individual took a purse containing cash and credit cards belonging to a Forestport woman. Anyone who may have information related to the theft is asked to call (315) 369-3157.
