Hours before his official swearing in as Supervisor of the Town of Webb on Tues-day, January 2, Ted Riehle got settled into his new office at the Town of Webb Office Building.

Supervisor Riehle said he had spent some time in the office over the previous weekend with his predecessor Robert Moore, where they went over some things and had a “changing of the keys.”

Moore, who served as supervisor for 10 years, did not seek reelection in 2011.

Riehle said he’s really excited to get going, as he looks ahead at some of this year’s challenges.

“We’ve got some big projects in place—TOBIE Phase 2, the East Side Pump Station, and the Lock and Dam project, and that’s going to be my concentration right now,” he said.

Other upcoming business, he said, will include the purchases of a new grader for the Highway Department and a new groomer for the Snowmobile Trail System, both of which are included in the current budget and will have to go out for bid.

Riehle’s years as a department head and as a member of the Planning Board have provided him with experience in dealing with various town issues.

As chief operator of the town’s Wastewater Treatment Plant for the past 15 years, one of his accomplishments was preparing a long term financial plan for the facility.

“I created some reserve funds for the district and there are some important ideas to look at for other departments,” he said.

Riehle was appointed to the Planning Board in 2000 and served as its chairman for the past seven years. In that capacity he dealt with countless town issues that included projects to revitalize the downtown area.

“I really enjoyed that, and I will miss it. But I’m excited about this new challenge and new responsibility,” he said.
