‘Mohawk Valley Living’: Weekly TV magazine returns to air on Dec. 4t

After eight months of being off the air, the popular local television show Mohawk Valley Living will return to WKTV on Sunday, December 4.

Producers Lance and Sharry Whitney of Clinton created the show with host Richard Enders and Gary VanRiper, who led the Adirondack Journal segment of the program.

But after six years of deadlines, they felt it was best to retire the show.

Their viewers, however, were not keen on their decision.

“People didn’t give up on it. They just kept calling, stopping us on the street, and writing us these beautiful letters. Then we started thinking, what else could we possibly be doing that could impact so many people in such a positive way?” Sharry said.

The Whitneys decided to bring the show back, that is, if WKTV was on-board with the idea.

And much to their delight, WKTV was thrilled to resume the program. They gave them back their 7:30 a.m. time slot, and also the 11:35 p.m. slot following the late night news for a repeat of the show.

“Once we found out that we could get our times back, we immediately called Richard, who was also anxious to get going again,” Sharry said.

The first new episode of Mohawk Valley Living will feature Little Falls, Ilion, and an Adirondack Journal segment on Old Forge’s View, which opened during the program’s hiatus. In addition to reviving the program, Sharry said they have also updated their website.

Their audience can now log on to see archived episodes, videos and interviews from the show, and many other things that they often run out of time to discuss during the 30-minute television show.

This improvement, according to Whitney, will help viewers delve deeper into the content presented and offers access to blog posts, facebook updates, and links to things the show has discussed, including maps and directions to featured locations.

“Our fan base consists of people who are interested in getting out and doing things. By giving them links, we feel that we are helping them to get involved in what is going on around the Mohawk Valley,” Sharry said.

The program will appear on WKTV on channel 4 or cable channel 863.
