Board appoints two new patrolmen to Town of Webb Police Department

The Town of Webb Board passed a resolution to appoint two new officers to the Webb Police Department, at its Tuesday, November 8 monthly meeting.

The appointment of Aaron Silverman as a Police Officer in Training and Craig Burritt as a part-time Police Officer followed a series of interviews between the candidates and Town Board members, and a recommendation by Police Chief John Russell.

Silverman’s appointment as an Officer in Training is subject to the execution of an officer in training reimbursement agreement.

“In a nutshell, that agreement states that the officer, when appointed, is being trained by the Town of Webb and is committed to a certain number of years of service to the Town of Webb or he has to reimburse the town the cost of his training,” Supervisor Moore said.

Burritt, who retired from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department after serving 21 years, and his wife moved to Old Forge last spring.

During the summer he served locally on the Herkimer County Sheriff’s Department boat patrol.

“[Burritt] will make a wonderful addition to the pool of part-time police officers in the Town of Webb,” Supervisor Moore said.

Town Clerk Nanci Russell conducted a roll call vote and the board unanimously passed the proposed resolutions.
