Webb Property Owners Assn. endorses local candidates for upcoming election

The Webb Property Owners Association has announced their endorsements of candidates seeking the office of supervisor and two council seats in the Town of Webb in the upcoming November 8 general election.

The organization has endorsed Republican candidate Theodore “Ted” Riehle, Jr. for supervisor. Incumbent Republican J.B. Herron and Republican Robert McCoy have been endorsed as candidates to fill two council seats.

According to WPOA president Letty Haynes, the directors made their decision following their regular monthly meeting held Saturday, October 15.

The supervisor candidates were invited to attend the meeting. Haynes said the idea to include the candidates was inspired by Stuart deCamp, an Indepen-dent candidate for supervisor, who had contacted her and requested to meet with members of the organization to introduce himself and discuss his ideas.

When Haynes brought deCamp’s request to the board, it was their feeling that it would be fair to invite all the supervisor candidates. With time running out prior to the general election, they decided to meet with the candidates at their regular monthly meeting.

“Unfortunately, Stuart was involved with a Halloween event that was held in conjunction with the Adirondack Railroad. It had been on his business calendar for months and impossible for him to change,” Haynes said.

Likewise, candidate Dave Berkstresser was also unable to attend due to a prior commitment that involved EMS training.

“We tried to come up with another time that would work for everyone, but it didn’t work out,” Haynes said.

The other candidates, Richard Risley and Ted Riehle, were in attendance.

Prior to the meeting the candidates were mailed nine questions to consider for discussion.

According to Haynes the supervisor endorsement was based on the candidates’ answers to the questions and was decided by the majority of the eight board members in attendance.
