Jeanne E. Conway
Jeanne Elizabeth Harwood Conway 90, beloved Mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at sunset, surrounded by her loving family, in Troy, NY.
She was born in Inlet, NY, June 4, 1925 to Grace and K. Leonard Harwood.
Jeanne graduated from the Town of Webb High School in June 1942 as the Salutatorian of her class.
She continued her education at St. Vincent’s School of Nursing in New York City graduating as an RN in the class of 1945.
Surviving family members include two brothers Bob and Ted Harwood and one sister Carol Harwood Crofut of Old Forge, NY. Three children: Wendy Carol Grill Christiano/Sam Christiano; Laura Grace Conway/Richard Platkin; Christopher Michael Conway/Valentina Conway.
Grandchildren: Larry V. Holle Jr., Amber L. Holle, Seth C. Holle; Sal Conway, Waleska Conway, Valentinita Conway and great grandchildren Julianna Mayotte, Chase A. Holle.
Jeanne had been an obstetrical nurse at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady N.Y.; a public Health visiting nurse in Hamilton and Saratoga counties; a nurse at local summer camps and school nurse substitute in the Ballston Lake – Burnt Hills School District. She also worked at a Polio Hospital in Schenec-tady, NY during the 50’s.
Donations to Veterans of For-eign Wars or Paralyzed Veterans can be made in her honor.
The planned Memorial Service at Big Moose Chapel, Eagle Bay is for this summer. Date to be determined.
