VIEW seeks entries for tree-themed exhibit

VIEW, the arts center in Old Forge, is seeking entries for its themed-exhibit Branches, Brambles, and Roots, that will open summer 2016.

Trees provide shelter, building materials, shade, food, warmth, a place to sit or nest, a place to climb, play, and more. They have been celebrated, venerated, feared, worshipped, and cut down.

VIEW is seeking artists for an all media, juried exhibition that explores all aspects of trees in art, from raw material to inspiration and everything in between.

The exhibition is open to all media, by artists 18 and over, with an opportunity of over $3,000 in prizes.

Judging the exhibition is Bob Erickson, Professor Emeriti of Printmaking at University of Wisconsin Stevens Point and Tupper Lake-based wood artist Michael Trivieri.

A non-refundable entry fee of $32/$27 for members of VIEW enables the artist to submit up to two works. Each artist may submit a total of five images at a cost of an additional $10 per image.

The deadline to submit work is Monday May 2, 2016.

A complete prospectus can be found at at ViewArts.org.
