Spring service planned for Timothy (Buzz) J. Centola, 72

Centola Tim pc picTimothy (Buzz) J. Centola, 72, of Old Forge and formerly of Utica, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 14, 2016, at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse with his wife and friends by his side.

He was born on April 1, 1943, in Syracuse, the son of the late Dolores Centola and graduated from Whitesboro High School. Tim was united in marriage to Pamela Dundon on November 21, 1992, at their home in Old Forge.

He started his career with Niagara Mohawk as a service man in Utica and retired as a hot stick lineman in Old Forge after 34 years of service. After retiring from Niagara Mohawk, he worked as an electrician in Old Forge. 

Tim was a member of the Kilowatt Chasers, Sons of the American Legion Covey-Pashley Post 893 in Old Forge, Elks Lodge 2158 in Boonville, Malson-Jones VFW Post 7393 in New York Mills and the Flat Coated Retrievers Society of America and Canada.

He was also a member of the ADK Fishing Team, a small drinking club with a fishing problem.

His free time was spent on the golf course, fishing the Fulton Chain, and breeding flat coated retrievers with his wife.

Tim was of the Catholic faith which he practiced daily through his endless showing of kindness. Everyone around him could not help but be touched by his love.

He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Pamela Centola; father-in-law, John (Belvie) Dundon; canine companions, Leeta, Avery, Kobie, and Kenzie, all of Old Forge; and several cousins. He was predeceased by his aunts, Anna and Eleanor Centola; mother-in-law, Patricia Dundon and his very special dog, Spruce.

Tim is also survived by his special friends, Mike (Putz) and Mary Marleau, Bill and Ceil Gaetano, Lance (Ranger) and JoAnn Maly, Nicholas (Pontiac) Grande, Peter (Plow) Mondi and Brad (BH) Birnie. He was truly blessed to have an amazing circle of friends in Old Forge and in Utica.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to Dr. Khan of Utica and to Dr. Dragon Manta, Amy Lawless, Kathy Freeborn, Missy Curl and Lisa Porter at Upstate ER and the 6th floor ICU for their devotion and support through this very difficult time.

Services will be held later this spring in Old Forge. Arrangements are with the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, Old Forge.
