The Town of Webb school’s kindergarten and second grades hosted their Eric Carle-themed Buddy Reader Night on Thursday, February 18th in the school’s cafeteria.
“The kids worked together as buddies to complete an author study on Carle,” said Webb kindergarten teacher, Hannah Payne.
She said it was similar to Dr. Seuss reading events that had been held in previous years.
“This year we decided to switch it up a bit,” she said.
Ms. Payne said the first grade was also involved in reading some of Carle’s books.
The kindergarten and second graders got together every day for a week and read books, she said.
“They also created crafts and did some research about Carle and his unique books,” she said.
Eric Carle is the author of several popular children’s books, including, The Very Hungry Caterpillar; Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See?; and The Grouchy Ladybug, she said.
After completing The Very Hungry Caterpillar, students crafted a large caterpillar to hang in the school’s cafeteria, according to Payne.
The caterpillar was on display at their parent night held Thursday, February 18.
“Parents were able to come and observe the student’s artwork,” she said.
Payne said that the students were involved in a number of games that were tied into the theme.
“A fun time was had by all,” she concluded.
