Below is the text of a petition that is being circulated in support of Hemmer Cottage’s continued preservation.

Subject: Preservation of Hemmer Cottage

We the below listed community supporters do at this time express our wish that no potential disposition/sale of the Hemmer Cottage should be implemented without a strict/binding clause that protects the preservation of the cottage as was originally intended by the Preservation Committee of TOWHA.
Any disposition/sale without this proviso would be in direct violation of TOWHA’s Mission statement/charter as well as a negative response to all those people who organized, supported and implemented this historic project.
This preservation project was a direct project under the TOWHA Board of Trustees and leadership as well as with community and NYS involvement.
The “Help Preserve The Hemmer Cottage” pamphlet sent out to get donations, which was issued in July 2003 states: “Hemmer Cottage preservation is the first project of the Architectural Preservation Committee of the Webb Historical Association.”
In this pamphlet is also stated that NYS funding for this project was secured through the efforts of Senator Raymond Meier.
The integrity of TOWHA and the commitment to the Mission Statement of your Association is on view to all and could have a potential negative impact on any future projects/funding you hope to implement/acquire in the future.
