Local Kiwanis to sponsor 16th Annual Winter Sports Challenge, February 6th

The Kiwanis Club of the Central Adirondacks will sponsor the 16th Annual Kiwanis Winter Sports Challenge on Saturday, February 6 during the Old Forge Winter Carnival weekend held at McCauley Mountain Ski Area.

The Winter Sports Chal-lenge is a family-oriented recreational cross-country ski and snowshoe fund-raising event that will take place on McCauley’s extensive network of cross-country ski trails.

Requested donation to participate is $10, $5 for kids under the age of 12.

Signup will begin at 11 a.m.  at the Yurt next to the McCauley maintenance garage.

Bring you own snowshoes or demos provided by Mountain-man Outdoor Supply Company.

Rentals of Dion racing snowshoes will be provided by Matt Westerlund for $5 a pair.

Kids and adults of all ages are invited to walk the trails in search of “tree personalities” along the 1K course.

Each participant will receive a ticket for a chance at a door prize and a ticket for a free hot dog and hot chocolate redeemable at The Last Run Café in the Chalet, courtesy of Nick Bankert.

The proceeds of the Kiwanis Winter Sports Challenge will be used to fund all of the Kiwanis youth-oriented projects including operations of Kommunity Youth and Activity Center (KYAC) in Old Forge.
