Amy Bartel of Old Forge started 2016 in an exciting way by opening a new shop, Bespoke Sewing Studio, in the Muffin Patch Complex at 2946 State Rte. 28 in Old Forge.
The studio offers Bartel’s custom-made clothing and design service, private sewing instructions, alterations and home decor service.
Encouraged by the interest in a recent inaugural sewing class, Intro to Machine Sewing, which was open to children ages 8 to 12, Bartel plans on instructing future classes geared for all ages and abilities.
Fans of the shop have been helpful in determining the direction of the classes, most of which involve basic sewing skills such as how to use your sewing machine, how to put in a zipper, and how to follow a pattern.
Some have also delivered spare fabric remnants and notions that can be used for novice sewing practice or creating sample projects.
Bartel invites suggestions for other instructional opportunities, as well as feedback on class scheduling.
Check out the studio’s Facebook page for pictures and updates on classes, or call (315) 369-5226.
The studio is currently open Monday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m., or by appointment by calling 369-5226.
