Services set for Helen E. Macdonald, 93

Helen E. Macdonald, 93, of Old Forge, died on Tuesday, November 17, 2015, at Masonic Care Community in Utica.

She was born on March 11, 1922, in Jamaica, Long Island, NY, a daughter of the late William A. and Helen E. Macdonough Miller. She married Angus (Mac) B. Macdonald on September 19, 1942, in St. Mary’s in the Highlands, Cold Spring, NY and he died on March 21, 1977.

Helen was a member of the Niccolls Memorial Presbyterian Church in Old Forge, where she belonged to the Women’s Fellowship group. 

She was a dual and lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star Philipstown Lodge and the Dewey Old Forge Chapter #449.

Helen was a devoted mother and housewife and enjoyed crocheting in her free time.

She is survived by her daughter, Marcia Macdonald of Old Forge; son, Donald Macdonald and his wife, Charina of Wappingers Falls, NY; grandchildren, Melissa Macdonald, Shannon and Crystal Macdonald, Justin and Tiffany Macdonald, Derek and Heather Macdonald, Jessica and David Denio and Joshua Hardesty; great grandchildren, Lizzie Riehle, Olivia, Linda and Merida Macdonald and Xavier Lown-Macdonald and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son, Angus (Chip) Macdonald, daughter-in-law, Linda Macdonald; brothers, Christopher, Gilbert, Richard and William Miller.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to all the staff at Masonic Care Community for all the comfort and care given to Helen.

Calling hours will be on Friday, November 20 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, 128 Fern Ave., Old Forge.

A memorial service will be on Saturday, November 21 at 11 a.m. at Niccolls Memorial Presbyterian Church, Old Forge.

Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery in Cold Spring, NY, on Monday, November 23 at noon.

Friends may consider the Masonic Care Community in memory of Helen.
