Webb students welcome local veterans at school forum

veteransIn recognition of Veterans Day, Town of Webb School students in grades 4th, 5th, and 7th invited local veterans to discuss their military experiences in an open forum on  Tuesday, November 10th.

In attendance were Sgt. Kermizian (Army), Sgt. Roger Best (Air Force), Lt. Michael Mitchell (Army), and Cpl. John Weedmark (Marines).

Veterans began the forum by discussing their experiences in the military and what being a veteran meant to them.

Service of the veterans ranged from the occupation after WWII, Korean War, action in Grenada, Vietnam, and the Gulf War.

Students then had the opportunity to ask questions regarding the military and Veterans Day.

“It meant a lot to speak with these young students. I was amazed how eager they were to ask questions and how respectful they were. It reminds us veterans, even if not active, that our service was worth it,” said one of the invited guests.

The previous week, Sgt. Michael Cunningham (Air Force) spoke with the fifth graders at Town of Webb School about what it meant to him to be a Veteran.

The students and faculty were honored to have had these veterans in their presence and to have had the opportunity to extend their gratitude for their military service.
