Merle Leroy Fenton, III, 70, of Old Forge, passed away September 30, 2015, at home.
He was born April 19, 1945, in Athens, GA, the son of Merle Leroy Fenton, Jr. and Elizabeth Simmons Fenton.
He received his education in Bethel Park, PA. Mr. Fenton proudly served in the U.S. Navy, and was a member of the American Legion.
Merle was employed for many years as assistant manager at Old Forge Hardware, retiring in 2008.
He was a member of Niccolls Memorial Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by two children; his daughter, Mrs. Simon (Cassandra) Merrill, Berlin, Germany, and his son Merle Leroy Fenton IV, Albany, NY; brothers and sister, Robert Fenton, Mrs. Albert (Sharon) Kumnick, Acton, MA, and Tom (Debra) Fenton, Old Forge.
Memorial services will be Thursday, October 8, 11 a.m., at Niccolls Memorial Presbyterian Church, Old Forge. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery.
Arrangements are in care of Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, Old Forge.
