Sunday, September 6 was a beautiful day for 3,100-plus CAPPY Ducks to take their annual swim down the Moose River in the annual Duck Derby in Old Forge.

Sponsored by CAP-21, it is the organization’s only fundraiser, with proceeds allowing the continuance of its regional community development and grant writing work.

CAP-21 would like to thank the many people and organizations who volunteer their time to make this event possible, including:

Mr. & Mrs. Foley Duck, Ed Booton and Mike Cunningham for their finish line work with the CAPPY Duck Plucker, the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary, the Town of Webb Highway Department for their Duck Dumper, the Town of Webb Police Department for traffic control, Mike Notley for entertainment, face-painters Fern Bailey and Alexis Hollister, the Town of Webb Information Office, particularly Martha Denio and Mike Farmer, our event photographer Reed Proper, Fred and Carolyn Trimbach and their army of grandchildren, our Duck Adoption Coordinators Bill and Mary Ann Ransom, Sheila Brady, Sandy Booton, and to all our CAPPY Duck Round Up River Wranglers who pitched in to corral the little runaways.

Although once again there was not a $100,000 winner, a consolation prize was provided courtesy of the Town of Webb Information Office.

The Billy Joel Madison Square Garden concert tickets went to Rich and Joanne Mulcahey of Oswego, NY with lucky duck #1779.
