SHARP (Senior Health Activity and Recrea-tional Program) is a free program offered to all independent senior citizens—including summer residents—from Woodgate to Raquette Lake.
We are looking forward to several exciting events this month, including a visit to Moose River Farm, attending the symphony in Inlet, and an ice cream outing.
But when we get together we’re not always on the go.
Quite often, spending time sitting around a table with coffee and just talking that seems to mean the most to us.
Connecting, building friendships, remembering our past and planning our upcoming events… those are among our favorite “activities.”
It also gives us time to relax and just be.
We meet at Niccolls Memorial Church in Old Forge from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Wednesday.
Lunch during our regular Wednesday sessions is provided by the Community Health & Wellness Fund (formerly the Town of Webb Health Center Fund).
It is during our lunch that a lot of the important social connecting takes place.
SHARP encourages its participants to have a say in what our program is all about, providing us with opportunities to learn and grow from one another’s interests.
Consequently, our participants have tried new things and/or experienced activities that they have not been able to enjoy for a long time.
If you’d like to volunteer for or participate in our program and would like more information, please call or text (315) 225-7553, or email activitiescoordinator4seniors@yahoo.com.
