Webb Police Dept. reports recent law enforcement activity

The Town of Webb Police Department has reported the following law enforcement activity.

A 58-year-old Old Forge man was charged with Petit Larceny (misdemeanor)  on Thursday, July 2 at 6 p.m.

According to the report, the arrest of the defendant resulted from a larceny at Kinney Drugs in Old Forge.

The defendant is accused of stealing merchandise valued at $24.99 on Wednesday, July 1 at approximately 8:45 p.m.

He was issued an appearance ticket directing him to appear in the Town of Webb Court at a later date.

A 22-year-old Port Leyden man was charged with Petit Larceny following an incident that occurred on Friday, July 3 at 1:12 p.m. According to the report, an investigation into a larceny complaint at Rainbow Zen in Old Forge resulted in the arrest of the defendant for the above charge.

The defendant was arraigned and released to return to Town of Webb Court at a later date.

A 30-year-old Geneva, NY man was charged with Confine-ment of Companion Animals in Vehicle in Extreme Temperatures following an incident that occurred on Sunday, July 5 at 2:15 p.m.

A 54-year-old Hannibal, NY man was charged with Unlawful Possession and Use of Fireworks following an incident that occurred on Friday, July 3 at 9:22 p.m.

According to the report, a complaint from a passing motorist of a large fireworks display at Singing Waters Camp-ground and a report of a dog having been struck by a car on State Route 28, one-quarter mile south of the campground led to the charge.

The defendant was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Town of Webb Court on July 16, 2015 at 7 p.m.

A 31-year-old Utica, NY man was charged with Unlawful Possession/Use of Fireworks following an incident that occurred on Sunday, July 5 at 11:10 p.m.

According to the report, a fireworks complaint at 515 Hollywood Rd. from a neighbor at 5567 Hollywood Rd. led to the charge.

After having been asked to stop setting off fireworks, the defendant continued to do so.

He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Town of Webb Court on July 14, 2015 at 7 p.m.

According to the report, a passerby reported an unattended dog in a vehicle on Lamberton St. in Old Forge.

Unable to locate th owner, the dog was removed from the vehicle by TOW Police.

The owner reported to the station looking for the dog and was subsequently charged with the above offense.

He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Town of Webb Court at a later date.

A 21-year-old Canan-daigua woman was charged with Petit Larceny following an incident that occurred on Sunday, July 5 at 2:10 p.m.

According to the report the defendant was arrested upon receiving a report from Rainbow Zen in Old Forge of a female that was shoplifting.

She was brought before Hon. Patrick Venetz at Town of Webb Court where she pleaded guilty to the offense and paid a fine.

The NY State Liquor Authority, in conjunction with the Towns of Inlet and Webb Police Departments, concluded an underage alcohol investigation on Tuesday, July 7, 2015.

The investigation consisted of checking various bars, restaurant and convenience stores in the area for compliance of proofing customers and obtaining identification that the customers were in fact over 21 years of age for the purchase of alcoholic beverages.

The following businesses were found NOT to be in compliance: The Runway Conven-ience Store located at 2794 Sate Route 28, Thendara, NY; and The Back Door Bar located at 3992 State Route 28, Old Forge, NY.

According to the NYS Liquor Authority these licensees may face civil penalties following an administrative hearing.

The Town of Webb Police made the following arrests in connection with this investigation: A 45-year-old Old Forge man was charged with Unlawfully Dealing with a Child in the 1st Degree and Procuring alcoholic beverages for a person under 21 years of age. The man was an employee of the Runway Convenience Store.

Also, a 29-year-old Old Forge man was charged with Unlawfully Dealing with a Child in the 1st Degree and Procuring alcoholic beverages for a person under 21 years of age. The man was an employee of The Back Door Bar.

Both men were released on appearance tickets and are scheduled to appear in the Town of Webb Court at a later date.
