6th annual Inlet Memory Walk set June 20

Inlet Memory Walk will again take place from Arrowhead Park on Saturday, June 20. The 6th Annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s will begin with registration at 9 a.m.; the walk begins at 10 a.m.

As in past years, the donations will be divided between the Alzheimer’s Association and the RCIL (respite) program in Inlet.

The Memory Walk Committee has decided to donate 40 percent of funds raised to Sunset Nursing Home in Boonville, as there is no longer an RCIL program in Inlet.

Donations may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association online at the website: alz.org, then go to new york.

Inlet will be listed and donations can be made.

Teams may be formed or individual walkers are welcome. Golf carts will be available for those that want to participate but won’t be able to walk the distance.

A Chinese Auction will be held with items donated by local businesses and crafters.

Representatives of the Alzheimer’s Association will be on-site to offer information on the disease.

Prior to the walk, organizers will carry on a program introduced during last year’s event.

Four-colored flowers will be available for those who have experienced Alzheimer’s as a victim, a family member, a friend, or caregiver, or who is walking in memory of someone who has passed.

The honorees’ names will be written on the petals of the flowers before being placed in the Memory Garden.

The walk will begin soon after.

“All are invited to come and support this important cause as many from our communities have dealt with this illness…a cure needs to be found.

Remember the families that we have honored and show your ongoing support in finding a cure,” said Patty Wittmeyer, event co-organizer.
