DOT: Informational session set for local Route 28 rehabilitation project

The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) will host an Informational Open HouseĀ  on Wednesday, April 22 for an upcoming pavement rehabilitation project on Route 28 from Old Forge to the Hamilton County line north of Eagle Bay.

The Open House will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at VIEW, the arts center in Old Forge located at 3273 State Route 28. VIEW is handicapped accessible.

The purpose of this meeting is to provide the public, local businesses and elected officials with information about the project, which will include 9.3 miles of pavement rehabilitation of Route 28.

Pavement treatments will involve milling and resurfacing in Old Forge and cold-in-place recycling with a two-course asphalt overlay north of Old Forge.

Additional work will include replacement of existing rustic guiderail with galvanized box beam, drainage improvements, installation of two snowmobile crossings and replacement of some handicap ramps in the hamlet area.

The project is currently scheduled for construction in the summer of 2015.

Department personnel will be available during the Open House to address any questions or concerns that individuals may have about this project.

For further information, submission of written comments regarding this project or if a sign language interpreter, assisted listening system or other accommodation will be required to facilitate your participation in the meeting, contact Brian Hoffmann, NYSDOT Regional Design Engineer, 207 Genesee Street, Utica, NY 13501, or call (315) 793-2429.
