Teachers from Adirondack CSD came to visit our K-2 teachers to view the ELA programs that we are using. This was coordinated through Anne Bertram who is working with both districts through the STLE 3 grant.

This is my last week of observations for the year. All teachers have been observed twice or three times if untenured.

Our NHS put on a blood drive in our gymnasium for the community on Wednesday, March 4. They collected twenty-five (25) units of blood at the drive!

Spring sports started on Monday, March 9 for varsity. Our modified sports began on Monday, March 16. We look forward to an exciting season this spring.

Our drama production, “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying,” took to the stage on Friday, March 13 and Saturday, March 14 under the direction of Val Gaudin.

Congratulations to our students, Ms. Gaudin, Mrs. DeFilipps and Mrs. Herrmann on a performance well done!

Our partnership with the Town of Webb Rec Director, Jason Perkins, has provided intramural sports that have met steadily through the year.

This has taken place either in our gymnasium, fitness room, or at the George T. Hiltebrant Pavilion.

The 5th/6th grade group met on Tuesdays and the 7th/8th grade group met on Wednesdays from 3-5pm.

Our Spring Sports Awards will now be inclusive of Scholarships and other awards. Graduation will only include academic awards this year in an effort to keep the ceremony focused on academic accomplishments while allowing the graduation ceremony to be of a more manageable duration.

Congratulations to M. Roach 1st Place-Customer Service, A. Townsend 2nd Place-Visual Communication, and S. McGill-2nd Place-Visual Communi-cation.

These students medaled last Friday at the SkillsUSA Regional Competition.

Congratulations to Lexie LaFountain for being chosen as the Artist of the Quarter!

Athletic Director David Leach included a review of the recent ski outing.

Superintendent’s ReportMr. Rex Germer included the topics:

The Board of Regents is discussing options for meeting graduation requirements due to the anticipated impact of the 2022 graduation requirements associated with the Common Core.

It is expected that more options will exist in the future for students to obtain a diploma beyond meeting the new passing rates for regents in math and English.

Bob Chrysler has returned my calls after a BOE member made a call themselves. A discussion was had with Bob regarding expanded services through the medical center in Mental Health services and beyond.

Bob said it is something they are working on regionally and would keep us in the loop but he is having difficulties recruiting individuals in the mental health field.

Those individuals who have traditionally been part of the graduation ceremony by coming up on stage to award scholarships will be contacted by the District to offer options for the awards to be given outside of the ceremony itself moving forward.

Non academic scholarships will no longer be directly awarded during the ceremony but will be acknowledged in the program for the students, families and the community.

Congratulations and thank you to all those involved in the drama performance this past weekend.

The students did a great job with the performance and truly looked to be enjoying themselves.

The second portion of the Civil Service test was given for the Account Clerk/Typist position. We should have a list of eligible candidates next week.

We hope everybody has a safe and enjoyable Spring Recess.

The next Board of Education meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 7 at 6:30 p.m. in the library of the school.
