Old Forge celebrates with annual St. Patrick’s Parade

IMG_6112******From Main Street to the top of McCauley Mountain, St. Patrick’s Day was commemorated in many ways in Old Forge over the weekend of March 13, 14 and 15.

IMG_5758*******Festivities kicked off under sunny skies and 40-plus degree temps with the annual St. Patrick’s Parade on Friday, where judges determined Thendara Irish Momfia as the top entry. The group was followed closely in second place by The Cluck of the Irish. People’s Choice winner was The Chip ‘n Dale Dancers.IMG_5300******

Following the parade many gathered at the Old Forge Fire Hall to sample Irish Stew, and enjoy Patty Foley’s homemade soda bread, green beverages and Irish singalongs.

IMG_6047**************The Citizen’s Downhill Ski Race and 61st Annual Snowflake Derby were held at McCauley on Saturday, and on Sunday there was pond skimming, the Lucky Duck Raffle to benefit the McCauley Ski Patrol, a Pasta and Chicken Cook-Off at the Last Run Café, and live music with Doug Green.

The winners of the cook-off were: 1st – Benny’s Ice Cream and 2nd- B.S. Contracting.
