Registration under way for variety of VIEW arts center workshops

Carl Cuccaro will instruct a class to create a stained glass pine tree sun catcher on Thursday, March 19 from 6 to 9 p.m. at VIEW.

The process will include an introduction to the fundamentals of pattern design and utilization: cutting, sizing and fitting various pieces of glass and use of modern joining methods.

This workshop is for aspiring stained glass artists with little or no experience with this medium. 

The fee is $45 for non-members and $35 for members of VIEW. All materials and tools are provided.

Barbara Green, Old Forge resident and owner of Adirondack Green House Basketry, will instruct a Market Basket Weaving workshop on Saturday, March 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The finished basket will include a wooden buckle accent and woven handle.

The workshop fee is $60 for non-members and $45 for members of VIEW with an additional $30 materials fee.

The class is suitable for high school age students and up. Participants are asked to bring a lunch and drink.

Refrigerator and microwave are available. Space is limited and advanced registration is required.

Award-winning nature photographer Carl Heilman II will be offering two photography classes on Saturday and Sunday, March 14 and 15.

Perfect Pictures Every Time with Nature Photographer will be held Saturday from 10 a.m to 6 p.m.

This class is suitable for beginner to intermediate photographers and will feature instruction on many facets of digital and film photography including camera basics, digital camera features and menus, RAW files, digital workflow, lenses, depth of field, composition, lighting, and various photo techniques.

The day features three to four hours of PowerPoint and instruction, Q & A, and image critique at VIEW, followed by several hours of photography at nearby photo locations practicing camera techniques and photography principles.

The Sunday class, Winter Days and Nights Photo Tour, will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and is suitable for advanced beginner, intermediate, and advanced level photographers ho are comfortable with camera principles and techniques, such as aperture/shutter/ISO settings/depth of field.

The fee for each class is $200 for non-members of VIEW and $175 for members.
