VIEW: Registration open for silver jewelry and basket workshops

Registration is now open for the upcoming Create Silver Jewelry and Large Laundry Style Basket workshops at VIEW, a multi-arts center located at 3273 State Rt. 28 in Old Forge, offering fun and educational workshops and activities for all levels of experience throughout the year.

Robert Moore will return to lead a six-week Creating Silver Jewelry Workshop that will meet on Tuesdays, February 3 through March 10 from 6 to 9 p.m. 

This workshop is designed for the aspiring jewelry artist with little or no experience with this medium who would like to learn procedures, techniques, and special insights into creating original works of art involving silver.

Students will learn basic techniques including sawing, texturing, and soldering, through demonstrations and projects, as well as vocabulary and safety related to studio procedures.

The fee is $75 for VIEW members and $100 for non-members. There is a materials fee based on pieces created.

Barbara Green of Adirondack Green House Basketry will instruct a Large Laundry Style Basket Workshop on Monday, February 9 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Weave a large basket with color accents.

The fee is $50 for members of VIEW or $60 for non-members with a materials fee of $35. The workshop is suitable for high school age and up. Participants are asked to bring a lunch and drink. Refrigerator and microwave are available.
